People need inspiration and challenges. That’s what drives us forward.

How can you help people finding their inspiration? How can you inspire people? How can you keep them motivated, inspired and happy? I am not gonna talk about how to do it, but about the hypocrisy around it.

Let’s take an example: a company has teams in order to support their clients. Every team has one or two key people, responsible for coordinating the team and keep its members motivated. These people are responsible for making the team work, helping people to develop in order to improve and achieve their best. And, of course, generate more profit to the company.

Most companies do not care about people, most of them is seen as nothing more than expendable resources. In this context, key people’s responsibility is: make them work as much as possible, keep them “inspired”, “happy” and “motivated” as long as possible, so we can pay them as little as possible and profit as much as possible for as long as possible. No one will ever admit it though… pure hypocrisy.

Companies usually have well defined hierarchies. So, the ultimate question is: who is responsible for keeping the top level motivated? Going further, if the top level is not motivated, how the heck is it going to motivate the levels below?

Here comes the reason why I’ve started writing this post in the first place: how can one motivate and inspire other people when he doesn’t believe in what he is saying, when he is demotivated? The closer you get to the top level (of the hierarchical pyramid), easiest it is reaching a point when there is nobody to motivate you.

So, what to do? Should you rely on other people to motivate yourself? Yes? Why?

Is self-motivation an option? How can you practice such thing? I will talk about it later.
